Eligibility
A production must open at one of the roughly 40 eligible Broadway houses within the season's window to be considered. An eligibility committee rules on which category each show and performer competes in.
Nominations
A rotating Tony Nominating Committee of theatre experts sees every eligible show and selects the nominees — 128 of them this year across 26 competitive categories.
The Vote
More than 700 designated Tony voters — producers, performers, directors, and other industry members — cast the final ballots. The winners are revealed live on ceremony night.
The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! tied for the most nominations this season with 12 each. Ragtime followed with 11.
